Career Gateway Train-the-Trainer Workshop
IAJVS has received a Federal DOL grant to develop and promote The Career Gateway Project, www.gatewaytocareers.com, a FREE website designed to assist job seekers. The site provides information and activities that help explain the career search process and include a comprehensive listing of New Jersey along with national online resources that can aid job seekers through each step of their career research. The site is organized for individuals to plan to: “Assess Yourself; Explore Careers; Create a Plan and Set Goals; Expand Your Skills; Find a Job; Manage Your Career”. Each section contains current career search information, internet resources and written exercises, all of which can be completed online and printed.
The goal of the project is to support diverse groups of job seekers by increasing internet use for career exploration and planning, computer accessibility and computer “seat time”. The website will enable individuals to prepare for careers in specific sectors, including the expanding field of healthcare.
Avery Dykman, Project Manager, JVS MetroWest will be presenting the Train the Trainer session in the Library computer lab. Participants will receive a valuable hands-on lesson discussing website use and navigation.
JVS is a nonprofit, community-based health and human service organization, annually delivering a wide array of personalized services on a nonsectarian basis to nearly 18,000 individuals age 14 to 100+ throughout New Jersey and business-to-business services to hundreds of companies across the State.
The Mission of JVS is to use its special skills, knowledge and training to help its clients become economically self-reliant, productive citizens, earning their own living in constructive careers. To recognize that at any level of performance capability human beings deserve the opportunity to be useful and share in the dignity of work.
